What does a storm shelter cost in Tulsa?

Do I need a permit?
It depends on the city. Tulsa requires stamped plans; Jenks and Bixby list which types need permits. See the permits page.

When is storm season around Tulsa?
In NOAA climatology for the Tulsa radar area, the main severe season runs from about March 9 to July 28 and peaks in late April and May (SPC severe weather climatology for the Tulsa (INX) radar area, 1980-2006). See the storm season checklist.

101 from 1950 to 2025, by NWS Norman's count (NWS Norman, Oklahoma tornadoes by county, 1950-2025).
Can I register a shelter in Tulsa if I live outside city limits?
The City of Tulsa registry is for addresses inside city limits (City of Tulsa Storm Shelter Registration). Elsewhere, use your own city or county registry.
Does Tulsa need engineered plans for a shelter permit?
Yes, the city's residential permit list calls for engineered stamped plans (City of Tulsa residential permit requirements).
